SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – On a day of gratitude and giving, Catherine Jones Ministries gave back and blessed the homeless with a word of hope and a hot meal.
“This is our second annual homeless feed here in Savannah,” said Catherine Jones, founder and pastor of Catherine Jones Ministries. “We went out last year and it was a great success and we thought we would do it again. “
A delicious dinner and a word of praise lifted spirits on Thursday.
On the menu, the traditional turkey and ham, accompanied by famous soul food accompaniments: green cabbage, yam and, of course, macaroni.
“A lot of the recipients here are without families or homes to go to,” Jones explained, “and we set up the table where we could go out and sit and bless them and have a meal with them, I think it’s Very important . “
Jones said there is more to the day than providing a meal for those who cannot afford to eat.
“I have been working here for seven years with the homeless population and they are always grateful,” Jones said, “come up to you and say, ‘Thank you for doing this,’ and that simple thank you means so much. “
The ministry distributed blankets, clothing, toiletries and other necessary items.
“We have a lot of things that have been given to us that we also give them that they can use, especially the blankets,” Jones said.
Reverend Jones said it was a blessing to be able to bless others.
